The Sandman Season 2 Cast & Character Guide

The Sandman season 2 cast brings back most of the major characters from the first season, while adding some important new names and faces to continue the Neil Gaiman storyline into its next chapter. Originally released in 1996, The Sandman comics told the story of Morpheus, also known as Dream, the ruler of the Dreaming. As one of the Endless, Dream is the being responsible for bringing dreams and nightmares into the minds of humans — the true figure behind the folk tales of the Sandman. However, when a wizard captures him, he ends up imprisoned for 70 years, eventually escaping to find his entire realm has fallen to ruins.

The first season of the Netflix adaptation saw Morpheus reclaiming the dreams and nightmares that escaped to the real world, including the Corinthian, who became a serial killer. The story of Sandman season 2 will encompass The Seasons of Mists, which is one of the most popular collection of Sandman stories written by Gaiman. The new slate of characters also points to the Dream Country short stories, like “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” coming in season 2 as well. Unsurprisingly, many new supporting actors are joining The Sandman season 2 cast.

The Sandman Season 2 Supporting Cast & Characters

Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine: Jenna Coleman plays Johanna Constantine, an occult detective, in The Sandman season 2 cast. In the past, she was Lady Johanna Constantine, and in the present day, she is a descendant of that character. Coleman is best known for her role in the soap opera Emmerdale. However, US viewers are more likely to recognize Jenna Coleman for her role as Clara Oswald from Doctor Who, the companion of Matt Smith’s Doctor. She also appeared in the Netflix series The Serpent and as Queen Victoria in the PBS series Victoria.

Vanesu Samunyai as Rose Walker: Vanesu Samunyai’s The Sandman season 2 character is Rose Walker. She is a woman looking for her lost brother and eventually becomes prey to the Corinthian. Samunyai is a newcomer to the acting scene, with Rose in The Sandman as her first major role.

Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain: Sanjeev Bhaskar’s The Sandman season 2 character is Cain. This character is based on the Biblical character of Cain, the man who committed the first murder — that of his brother Able. He is also based on one of the cryptkeepers from the classic DC series Tales from the Crypt. Bhaskar is part of the BBC Two sketch series Goodness Gracious Me. In 2023, Sanjeev Bhaskar took on the role of David Singh in The Flash, and he also appeared in the 2017 movie Paddington 2. Neil Gaiman fans might also recognize him from his role as Giles Baddicombe in Good Omens.

Asim Chaudhry as Able: Asim Chaudhry joins the cast of The Sandman season 2 as Able. He is Cain’s brother and someone who is destined to always die at his brother’s hands constantly for all eternity. Cain and Able live in Dreaming. Chaudhry is best known for his role in the BBC series People Just Do Nothing as Chabuddy G. He voiced the character of Teefs the Walrus in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, played Roger in Wonder Woman 1984, and played Mohan Thakur in Black Mirror: Bandersnatch in 2018.

Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian: Actor Boyd Holbrook will return to The Sandman season 2 as The Corinthian, the serial killer with teeth for eyes. Holbrook received his first professional acting credit in the 2008 movie Milk, and he’s gone on to receive significant acting credits such as Quinn McKenna in The Predator, Kyle in The Host, and Pierce in the Marvel movie Logan.

Razane Jammal As Lyta Hall: Razane Jammal plays Lyta Hall in The Sandman season 2 cast. Lyta is a friend of Rose and is also a widow mourning the loss of her husband. Jammal was born in Lebanon and enjoyed her breakout in the Netflix series Paranormal, where she took on the main role as Maggie. She also had roles in A Walk Among the Tombstones and the Epix series Berlin Station.

Ruari O’Connor as Orpheus: Ruairi O’Connor’s The Sandman season 2 character is Orpheus. This is a huge casting for season 2 as Orpheus is Dream’s son, and he was only seen as a severed head in the first season. O’Connor was born in Ireland and is best known for his role as Henry Tudur in the Starz series The Spanish Princess. Viewers might also know him from The Morning Show as Ty, Delicious as Michael, and from the movie The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It as Arne.

Esme Creed-Miles as Delirium:Neil Gaiman announced that Delirium is also coming to The Sandman season 2 cast, who Esme Cred-Miles will portray. He said, “There will be butterflies, there will be balloons, there will be magic, there will be chicken and telephone-flavored ice cream.” Delirium is the youngest of the Endless, with wild, colorful hair and mismatched clothing. Creed-Miles is an up-and-coming actor best known for playing the titular character in the TV show Hanna from 2019 to 2021 and Jamie in 2020.

Barry Sloane as Destruction: On top of Delirium, Destruction is coming too and will be portrayed by Barry Sloane. He barely appears in The Sandman series, as he abandoned his duties in the Endless 300 years ago, blaming his Endless relatives for leaving. While being known for destruction, he only wants to be creative since leaving his position. Sloane has been acting since 2000, and he’s best known for playing Zachary Heflin from 2015 to 2017 in Longmire and Aidin Mathis from 2012 to 2015 in Revenge.

Adrian Lester as Destiny: Destiny, who will be played by Adrian Lester in The Sandman season 2, is the oldest of the Endless and possibly the most powerful. He carries a large book called the Cosmic Log, a book that is chained to him and has everything that has ever happened in the past, present, and future written in it. However, he can never tell anyone what happens in the future to protect fate itself. Lester has an extensive acting background, but he’s best known for playing Mickey Stone in Hustle and Robert Hennessey, Earl of Poynton in the cast of the 2024 show Renegade Nell.

Indya Moore as Wanda: Another newcomer to The Sandman season 2 cast is Wanda. Wanda is a transgender woman in the comics and the best friend of Barbie. However, this news also hints that the character might have greater significance to the overall story (via What’s on Netflix). Though Moore was very new to the acting profession before getting cast in The Sandman season 2, she has appeared in well-known movies like Escape Room: Tournament of Champion, Nimona, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. She also played Angel from 2018 to 2021 in the drama Pose.

Like many actors in The Sandman, Skelly was newer to the acting scene before the Netflix series. Booth started acting in 2016 and has appeared in multiple notable movies, including Jupiter Ascending (2015), LOL (2012), and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2015).

He’s best known for his roles in the movies The Three Musketeers, Victor Frankenstein, and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

Modern pop culture fans will recognize him from Gangs of London, House of the Dragon, and Better.

Steve Coogan as Barnabas: Throughout The Sandman season 2, Steve Coogan will play Barnabus, the dog companion of Destructive, who is exceptionally loyal and cynical. Coogan, who started acting in 1989, isn’t new to stories about mythology. In 2010, the actor played Hades in the movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. He also famously acted in the Night at the Museum and Despicable Me franchises, as well as playing Paddy Meyers in the cast of Joker: Folie à deux.
